Artist Statement

I aimed to create a visually striking composition using only black and white elements. I carefully selected fonts, sizes, and spacing to convey a sense of balance and harmony, showcasing the power of typography as an art form. I explored the interplay between different typefaces to create contrast and visual interest. Negative space and strategic placement were used to guide the viewer's eye and create a dynamic visual experience. Rather than telling a story, this piece aims to illustrate the meaning of the word "Cool". To me, "Cool" is represented by bold fonts, a limited color palette, noisy and distressed effects, four-pointed stars, and a well-balanced harmony between elements on the canvas. The presence of hands symbolizes a force trying to unite the main typography elements and maintain a balanced harmony, connecting them to each other. The hand reaching out from the bottom right corner's "O" appears to be reaching for the "k" which seems to be moving away. Hence, I named this piece "Reaching". Through deliberate design choices and attention to detail, I aimed to create a visually captivating and thought-provoking composition that engages and inspires the viewer.

Those Eyes

Artist Statement

I worked on this piece as a simple study to practice my skills after a long break, but it turned out to be my favorite piece so far. I've always wanted to draw darker skin, but it was challenging for me to choose the right colors. This time, I was determined to create a more inclusive piece. I used a photo of a model as a reference and started the sketching process. Once I was happy with the sketch, I added the base colors and began to work on the shadows and highlights. Choosing the right colors for the shadows and highlights was a bit challenging, but I wanted to make sure I captured the model's skin tone accurately. After that, I personalized the face to fit my art style and added some effects to tie the piece together.
